Loving Christmas

I think I'm loving Christmas more than Thanksgiving. Mom has been spending extra time telling me about Jesus. Mom, Dad and I had a jam band going with the guitar singing Christmas songs ....by the way, I rock. And I had the most fun time tonight at Atlantic Station. First I ran around the huge tree with other kids for like 30 minutes to build up my appetite ....and know what we ate ....PIZZA!!!! My fav. Then I got to ride the train around Atlantic Station with Dad. Pretty cool and pretty cold. Then, it snowed. Yep, right here in Atlanta for like 15 minutes around the Christmas tree. It was amazing. It tickles your face so you just have to giggle.

Silent Night

As you may or may not know, I'm teething. And to be honest, it stinks. It just sucks the life out of you. All for these little tiny teeth. After being up for the last few nights, I couldn't even make it through my favorite program, Yo Gabba Gabba, this morning without taking a quick cat nap. Mom is praying for a silent night tonight.

Bath!

So I'm such a big boy now that I get to take a bath in the full tub now. Audios little blue plastic tub, hello porcelain. Anyway, my crazy Mom took a picture of me the other night while bathing. Isn't there a privacy law or something? I mean I know I'm cute but do we have to photograph everything. Luckily I had my trust duck to cover my manly parts. Check out how cute I am.

Oh Christmas Tree

So Mom really wanted me to help decorate the tree the other night. She thought it would be so fun for the family to all gather around the tree, decorating, smiling with Christmas tunes in the back. Sorry Mom, that was pretty lame. Throwing ornaments on the tile is much more fun. Do you know they shatter in like a million pieces? Now that is family fun.
Well, she finished the tree and it does look pretty cool. I'm really liking the fish ornament Mom had when she was my age and a blue star that looks like Patrick from Sponge Bob. Oh, and the mittens that Ms. Stacey gave me are cool too. Check out my tree.

Thanksgiving

Yep, it is official, I like turkey and I love Thanksgiving. I had so much to be Thankful for this year. A nice dog named Kasey, lots of friend, my parents and grandparents, a great school, some new teeth and of course, lots and lots of choo-choos.
And let me tell you about this turkey. It was so delicious. And the green beans were also the tops. And did I mention the pumpkin cheesecake. Mom ...take note, we need to eat like this every day. I'm done with the mac-n-cheese and chicken fingers ...I want turkey. See how happy I am?

Fancy Photo Shoot

Again, my Mom and Dad are TOTAL computer hogs. This is starting to be a problem. I'm so late on sharing my cool new family photos by the fabulous photographer Daley Hake. He shoots for Rolling Stone and lots of different bands so he has a unique style all to himself. But did you really think my Mom would take me to Sears or something the way she obsesses over photos? Nope.
Anyway, check me out. I'm the one with the cookie.

Halloween

Let me start off by asking ...what am I? Chopped liver? Why is it the middle of November and I'm just now posting Halloween photos? Mom keeps hogging the downstairs computer working on pictures of other kids and Dad is using the upstairs computer to work on his novel. This leaves me with my Leap Frog computer ...which I don't care what the commercials say. It doesn't work. I know it is a toy. But I digress. Halloween rocked. I got to dress up two days in a row. One for my class party (where I stole everyone's cookies and then tried to rope my Mom into hiding them for me) and the other for Halloween. And get this, you go to your friend's houses and they give you candy. Whoa. We need more Halloweens. I have a bit of a sweet tooth. And I got to stay up late and watch Charlie Brown Halloween. Which I think Charlie is right ...rocks are great. I carried one with me the whole night. Oh, and earlier on Halloween day I helped Dad carve his Joker-Latern (he need guidance to get things right). I think we did a great job. Well, Mom is kicking me off. Enjoy the pics!

I'm back from seeing the mouse

"Wow" The mouse knows how to party. I had a blast at Disney. From front rows seats at Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, touching Goofy's whiskers, playing at Pooh's house, riding trains and shopping with my Uncle Jason, I had a epic time. Even the colored rocks are fun at Disney. And did I mention the food? I ate an entire plate of German food ...meatballs included at Epcot. And the waffles are Mickey shaped. These people think everything! But don't worry about me over eating. I mustered up the might to push my stoller through all four parks. Big boy I am.
The one thing I will change is the hair cut. I mean, do I look happy to you? Do I? But I look cute now. Ladies, please.

Off to see the mouse

I'll let you know how it goes. Just don't look for any updates 'cause my days are going to be jammed packed. I've got breakfast with Mickey, dancing with Pooh, riding on Dumbo. Yep, all these characters want to see me. I'm kinda a bid deal.

Pumkin Hunters

Have you seen these "pumpkin" things? I think they are HILARIOUS. My Mom and Dad took me to a pumpkin patch this weekend. I ran, giggled and tried to pick up as many pumpkins as possible. And some of them weigh like 100 pounds. But these pumpkins give me the giggles. Mom and Dad let me pick out my own pumpkin and it is on the porch. I named it Ridge and I have to give him a kiss each time I see him. He cracks me up and makes me laugh all the time. What a pal.

Splishing and a Splashing

Have you ever gone out after a rain storm and splashed in puddles? If you answered "no" then you have a lot of living to do. It is the best. I soaked myself jumping and splashing. And now I pick up my boots every day hoping Mom and Dad will take me out to splash again.

Whoa

Has it really been this long since my last post? I need to get with the game. But I've been a busy boy. Building forts with Daddy, traveling to see Meme and Granddaddy and of course school work. Did I tell you I know my colors? Yep, at 17-months I can say and find purple, black and pink. Mommy thinks I'm a genius. I actually know more colors but want to keep her in suspense. Anyway, I got to dig for rocks the other night. My fav.

Peace

Can't a man get a little privacy? I mean, I'm just trying kick back after my playdate today, have a little cold milk and watch a little boob tube and ya know, get comfortable. And Mom is all up in my business giggling and taking pictures. You would think she hasn't seen a someone relaxing before. Gesh! Some people are so childish.

Cheetos!

I've discovered a new and tasty treat - CHEETOS! Mom said to not get use to it because they are rare in our house, but why? These things are crunchy, cheesy and delic! I love them. And they are a dual purpose food. Not only are they the perfect snack, they serve as a type of fabulous finger paint.

Gettin' Low

Booty shakin' good time. Mom and Dad let me stay up late the other night because I didn't feel good. Oh yeah, I felt the music calling me. And for those wondering, yes, I do usually wear pants. I just needed to keep the legs cool from all of my hot moves.

Spaghetti

Mom says that spaghetti night is bath night. I just think she is being stuffy. But I sure love spaghetti. All those squiggly noodles tickle my mouth and make me giggle. But Bambinelli's has my favorite spaghetti (sorry Mom but it is true). I can polish off an entire kiddie plate by myself plus a hot garlic roll. Mmmmmm..... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Sick Day

So only three weeks into school and I've already lost the perfect attendance award. I've been bit by a bug. No, not the one I wrote about last week, but the stomach bug. Trust me, it is not fun. But I'm starting to feel better. My advice, lots of sitting on Mommy's lap, staying in your PJs all day long, Pedialyte (it is nasty though) and Yo Gabba Gabba. It will help you get back on your feet in no time at all. Oh, and coloring. And when you are sick, Mom will let you dump your crayons on the floor. Maybe this sick thing is not too bad after all.

The Bug

So, this morning I was all about this bug. Long, brown and green, and just cool - ya know. But every time I went outside today I would see this bug and was like "let me pet you. we are friends." But Mommy kept saying "no, it may bite you." So by the end of the day I was a little scared the bug might take my left hand off, so no more touching. But wanted to share my new pet. Kasey, you should be worried if you are not nicer to me.

Feeding Ridge

Recently I began feeding myself. Enough of this "Momma and Daddy spoon feeding me stuff." I'm a big boy.

Momma has been teaching me all the proper table manners that she learned in her sorority. You know, stuff like how to hold my spoon, don't slurp my soup, which fork is my salad fork. As you can see I'm a fast learner.

Deer

Boy, you would have thought I just threw the winning touchdown pass in the Super Bowl or something because my Dad is SO proud of me. I can properly identify and say buck and doe. He said this make me an official Bryson. We are still trying to find a way to sneak past Mom one Saturday morning this season to go hunting. Mommy again thinks Daddy is a dork.
And for those who come for one reason only, bad hair day, no pictures.

First Day of School - Sept 2nd

Today was my first day at school and I think Mommy and Daddy were more nervous than I was. Daddy was so excited he got up at 5AM! Mommy dressed me in some hip new duds so I'd look cool on my first day of class. (I've got a "rep" to live up to people!)

My school is located at Oak Grove Methodist Church and I had to be there at 9AM sharp. Way too early!

Even though I love them, I have to admit Mom and Dad looked like a couple of dorks snapping my picture every 5 minutes. Come on guys, you're embarrassing me in front of the older kids. Did I mention my "rep?"

Mom and Dad eventually left me, and I was fine for a while, but when I realized I was going to be there for 3 solid hours without my Gwinchy, I got pretty upset, and I let the teachers know it too!

School was OK, not great. We played on the playground and we had a special teacher who taught us music, which I really enjoyed. We didn't play any Springsteen, but it was fun. I'm looking forward to Thursday though- word on the street is that we'll get to color with crayons. My favorite!

Eventually Mom and Dad showed up after snack time and I was happy again. Boy was I tired, this school stuff is hard work.

Football

My Mom has been telling me about "football" for a few days now. And I must say, she was right. This game rocks. I couldn't get enough this weekend. And unlike the sporting tease of the Olympics, football is staying around for a while. YIPEE!!!

Kasey

I'd love to show you my dog, Kasey, but she is scared of the camera. So, this is me looking at Kasey while she goes to the "potty" outside. I don't get it. Why doesn't she just slap on a diaper? Although I am envious of all of her outside time. Mommy and Daddy really need to let me run free more outside. I'm a big boy. I can handle it.

Not cool Mom

So my Mom wanted to test out some new diaper covers for photoshoots. She wasn't really happy with the pictures since it was rainy and dark outside, but I got 10 bug bites in the 5 minutes we were outside. I must be REALLY sweet. And this little experiment took away from my coloring time. Not cool Mom. I am not your puppet.

Swimming!

I can't believe my parents made me wait a whole year before taking me swimming. No, I'm not talking about the little donut filled with water in the yard ...but an ocean full of water. This is AMAZING. I'm going to keep working on my strokes to see if I can beat Michael Phelps' metal counts in about 20-years. Yeah, he should be scared. Have you seen these guns?

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

that's one small step for man...

...one giant leap for Ridge Bryson.

Yep, that's right avid readers, the other day I took my very first step by myself. Actually I took several. I walked unassisted the entire length of the living room. I walked from Mommy to Daddy and back again. I don't think I've ever seen them so excited. You would have thought I just graduated from college or something. I think Mommy was about to cry.

Secretly, I've been able to walk for sometime, I just like making Mom and Dad get off the couch and hold my hand and walk with me.

Anyway, now that I'm going solo, I won't be long till I'm climbing mountains in Colorado with Daddy, looking for these elk things he's always talking about.

Yippe-Ki-Yay!

One of Daddy's all-time favorite movies is Die Hard. It's not his #1 favorite movie, that title belongs to JAWS, and probably always will, but the original Die Hard is definitely in his top 5. He watches it every Christmas and since it's release in 1988 he estimates he's seen it over 50 times. He can quote nearly every line of dialogue from the film. This makes him very proud but Mommy just thinks he's a dork.

Anyway, the other day at Gymboree, they had these little tunnels you could crawl through so I thought I'd do my John McClane impersonation for Daddy. He's was very proud. Unfortunately, Daddy wouldn't let me deliver John McClane's famous signature line.

Splish Splash

Doesn't it seem like the most fun things involve water? I guess when you live in Atlanta and it is like 100 degrees in the summer, water does seem to make everything better.
So Dad and I tagged along on one of Mom's shoots this morning at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I was able to escape from my stroller and play in the fountains. So much fun. Dad and I were so wet after but I didn't want the splashing to end. I finally agreed to go back to the car if I was allowed to walk the entire way and managed to find three really cool sticks.

The Joy of Bubble Wrap

Have you tried this stuff? It is amazing!!! Pop! Snap! Crack! It is better than a bowl of Rice Krispies. And it just keeps going pop after pop. I think I'm going to ask for a roll of this from Santa. It's the perfect toy for kids from 1 to 100.

Rub a Dub Dub

So my Mom thought it would be fun to take a bubble bath outside. I like where she was going with this thought ...it was like a pool with bubbles, but this tub thing was WAY too small for me. I couldn't even spin around which in necessary when playing with rubber ducks. Anyway, we had fun and I do have to admit ...I look good.

My First Post

My parents were keeping everyone updated on me through their Mac site ...then they got a new computer and the entire thing kinda fell apart (technology upgrades, blah, blah). But I know that I have a family fan club and a guy has to oblige his adoring fans, right? So my Mom signed me up for a blog. Cool. Here is me eating my favorite food - avocado. Yummy!
